Ode to the Artist / En honor a la artista
Conceived and illustrated by Puerto Rican Artist Alexandra Vega, the photo showcased above was intended to appear on the cover of “La última caricia,” the work of poetry that would become my first published book. In the end, my editors chose another pretty image dating back to the 18th century. However, Vega’s beautiful drawing continues to occupy an extremely special place in my heart, as do all of the illustrations she produced inspired by the book’s poems, and which grace the interior pages of the printed (paperback) edition (available now on Amazon.com, as well as in several bookstores in Puerto Rico).
La ilustración aquí celebrada fue concebida e ilustrada por la artista puertorriqueña Alexandra Vega. La imagen adornaría la portada del libro “La última caricia”, el trabajo de poesía que constituye mi primera publicación en formato de libro. Al final, mis editores seleccionaron una bella imagen que data del siglo18 como portada del libro. Sin embargo, la hermosa ilustración de Vega, así como el resto de los dibujos que concibió, inspirada en los poemas de “La última caricia”, sigue ocupando un lugar muy importante y privilegiado en mi corazón, y actualmente forman parte de la edición impresa del libro (disponible en Amazon.com así como en algunas librerías de Puerto Rico).
